With the successful production of the Supreme Court history, people on the Society’s Board had an idea to produce a juvenile redux of law and order in Texas, suitable for seventh grade, which is the level at which Texas history is taught in public schools.
This idea grew into a juvenile series, of which this is the first title. The second one, TEXAS LAW AND THE FRONTIER, is in press, and I am happy to say that Marilyn Duncan, editor of the big UT Press history, has accepted co-authorship of the series.
TAMING TEXAS is not commercially available, but is distributed for free to Texas schools by the State Bar, which has also undertaken a program of placing attorneys and even judges into classrooms to introduce students
